Introduction

The Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts, has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the verification of Class-X marksheets for candidates engaged under the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) online engagement process, Schedule-I, January 2025. This updated verification process ensures the authenticity of educational qualifications submitted by applicants before their engagement.

Revised Verification Process

As per the updated guidelines in Para 2 (iii) & (iv) of the SOP dated 06.03.2025, the verification of Secondary School Examination (SSE) Class-X certificates will be carried out through the following methods:

1. API Setu (for Boards using DigiLocker): Candidates’ marksheets will be verified digitally through the API Setu integration.
2. Board’s Official Website: If a candidate’s educational board provides an online verification facility, the verification will be conducted through the official website.
3. Manual Verification: In cases where digital verification is not feasible, the Circle Nodal Officer will manually verify the marksheets by liaising with the respective education board.

Implementation and Responsibilities

The Circle Nodal Officers in the respective postal circles, where the concerned education boards are located, are responsible for carrying out the verification. The process will be conducted systematically to ensure accuracy and compliance with the prescribed guidelines.

Key Components of the SOP

The SOP outlines the following essential elements:

1. SSE Certificate Verification Process

   • The verification will be conducted at the Circle Office level.
   • Verified documents must be uploaded onto the designated portal.
   • The procedure for uploading the verification reports is detailed in Annexure-I of the SOP.

2. List of Educational Boards on API Setu

   • A comprehensive list of educational boards available on the API Setu portal is provided.
   • The verification process requires mandatory details such as candidate’s name, year of passing, roll number, and date of birth.
   • The list of boards and verification parameters is detailed in Annexure-II of the SOP.

3. Status of Pending Verifications

   • The Circle Login portal will display pending verification requests.
   • The status of document verification across various circles is documented in Annexure-III of the SOP.

Applicability of the SOP

This revised SOP applies to the Schedule-I, January-2025 recruitment cycle as well as pending verifications from previous recruitment cycles, including:

• Schedule-I, January-2023
• Special Drive, May-2023
• Schedule-III, July-2023
• Schedule, July-2024
