New Delhi, 28th February 2025
The Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts (SPN Section), has announced an extension of the prescribed tenure for Mail Overseers. This decision follows the reference to letter of even number dated 10.09.2024, which initially set guidelines for their rotational transfer within divisions.
Key Updates on Mail Overseer Rotation Criteria
Extension of Tenure Criteria:
The mandatory rotation period of one year, as mentioned in para 3 of the letter dated 10.09.2024, has been dispensed with.
This means Mail Overseers will not be compulsorily rotated within one year.
Revised Rotation Guidelines:
Mail Overseers must be rotated within their Unit/Sub-Division within a Division after completing three years of service in their existing location.
Other Provisions Remain Unchanged:
Apart from the above modifications, all other guidelines from the original letter dated 10.09.2024 will remain in effect.
Implementation & Compliance
This decision has been made with the approval of the Competent Authority, ensuring streamlined management of Mail Overseers' postings while maintaining operational efficiency.
Conclusion
The Department of Posts continues to refine its administrative policies to balance workforce stability and service optimization. Concerned authorities must ensure compliance with these revised guidelines in their respective divisions.
