In a major move towards enhancing the efficiency of postal delivery services, the Government of India’s Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts, has announced the establishment of 430 Brownfield Delivery Centres across the country. This initiative aims to centralize the delivery of all types of postal articles, including Speed Post, Registered, Parcel, and ordinary articles, through dedicated Delivery Centres (DCs).

Background and Implementation Plan

The Postal Directorate, through its letter dated 17th March 2025, referred to its earlier communication from 17th February 2025, which outlined policy guidelines for the centralized delivery mechanism. Additionally, the letter dated 3rd March 2025 specified Circle-wise targets for Brownfield Delivery Centres—those to be developed within existing postal department buildings with necessary civil and electrical modifications.

Revised Targets for Brownfield Delivery Centres

During a recent review on the MoC Dashboard, the progress of Brownfield Delivery Centres was analyzed, leading to a decision to increase the pace of their rollout. Accordingly, revised targets for these centres for the 2025-26 phase are as follows:
