DOP Initiates Online Portal for Post Office Review
The Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts, has announced the development of an online portal to facilitate the review of Post Offices, focusing on Establishment and Income/Cost Review. This initiative, aimed at optimizing postal operations, was communicated through a letter dated 14th February 2025.
Background
As part of a comprehensive rationalization strategy, the Department of Posts had earlier set deadlines for data entry and verification related to the review process. However, due to slow progress, the Competent Authority has approved an extension of the timelines to ensure complete and accurate data collection and analysis.
Revised Timelines
The updated schedule for this exercise is as follows:
Data Entry/Verification: Extended from 14th February 2025 to 28th February 2025.
Review Analysis: Extended from 28th February 2025 to 15th March 2025.
Significance and Implementation
The review of postal establishments is a crucial step towards improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the postal network. Given that this exercise is being closely monitored at the level of the Hon'ble Minister of Communications, all concerned circles and officers have been directed to adhere strictly to the revised timelines.
