Strengthening the Office of Sub-Divisional Officer in the Department of Posts
The Department of Posts has issued guidelines to strengthen the functioning of Sub-Divisional Offices across Karnataka Circle. These directives are aimed at improving operational efficiency and ensuring optimal manpower utilization.
1. Approval and Validity
The approval for providing clerical assistance to Sub-Divisional Heads has been granted by the Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Circle.
The provision is valid for a period of one year, from 01.01.2025 to 31.12.2025, or until revised establishment norms are fixed, whichever occurs earlier.
2. Manpower Utilization Guidelines
Maximum Utilization of Personnel: All divisional offices must ensure the utmost utilization of the Postal Assistants (PAs) in Sub-Divisional Offices.
Operational Requirements Priority: In case of manpower shortages, operational requirements will take precedence.
3. Conditions for Clerical Assistance
Attachment of PA: A suitable Postal Assistant (PA) may be attached if the combined working strength of PA(PO) + LSG(PO) + HSG-II(PO) + HSG-I(PO) exceeds 90%.
Alternative Assistance: If the PA strength is below 90%, divisions may consider assigning assistance from the Postmen cadre.
4. Implementation and Oversight
Divisional Heads are responsible for ensuring adherence to these guidelines.
Proper monitoring and reporting mechanisms should be established to track the deployment and efficiency of assigned personnel.
5. Administrative Concurrence
The concurrence for these guidelines has been recorded under CPMG Diary dated 02.01.2025.

6. Communication and Follow-Up
Divisional offices are advised to communicate these guidelines to all concerned regions and divisions.
