Allotment of ASP Promotees to Parent Circles: A Request for Consideration
The All India Association of Inspectors and Assistant Superintendents, Posts (AIAIPASP) has formally addressed the Department of Posts regarding the pressing issue of accommodating Assistant Superintendent of Posts (ASP) promotees in their parent circles following the recent PS Group-B promotion list issued on December 27, 2024.
Background
The Department of Posts, through Letter No. 9/02-2024-SPG.II dated December 27, 2024, and subsequent communications dated October 4, 2024, and December 3, 2024, has successfully conducted Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) and issued promotion lists for multiple cadres. The association acknowledges and appreciates the Directorate's efforts in facilitating promotions across the IP to ASP, IP line to PS Group-B, and Junior Time Scale (JTS) cadres, alongside relaxations in transfer policies.
Issue at Hand
Despite these commendable efforts, a significant number of Inspectors promoted to ASP cadre have been posted to distant circles, some over 1500 kilometers away from their home circles. This situation has created challenges for many ASP promotees, preventing them from joining their new assignments and causing personal and professional hardships.
Moreover, with around 40 vacancies emerging in the ASP cadre due to recent promotions to the PS Group-B cadre, there exists a window of opportunity to address this issue.
Association's Request
The association earnestly requests the Department of Posts to consider re-allocating ASPs currently posted in distant circles, as well as newly promoted Inspectors assigned to far-off regions, to their parent circles wherever vacancies exist. This adjustment would not only ease the burden on the affected officers but also ensure smoother administrative functioning and higher morale within the cadre.
Conclusion
The association remains hopeful that the Directorate will take this appeal into consideration and facilitate the re-allotment process in a timely manner. Such a step would demonstrate empathy and commitment towards the welfare of ASP promotees while maintaining operational efficiency across postal circles.
With profound regards,
