AIASC Calls for Consideration of HSG-I (NFG) Cadre for Senior Postmaster Roles
Pathankot, January 20, 2025
The All India Association of Supervisor Cadre (AIASC) has submitted a formal request to the Department of Posts, highlighting a critical issue regarding the appointment of Senior Postmaster (Group "B") positions in the postal service. The association, in its letter to the Hon'ble Secretary (Posts) at Dak Bhawan, New Delhi, has urged the authorities to recognize the expertise and experience of the Higher Selection Grade-I Non-Functional Grade (HSG-I NFG) cadre by appointing them to these roles.
The Concern:
Currently, the posts of Senior Postmaster (Group "B") at Pay Level 8 are being filled by PS Group-B officers (Pay Level 9), bypassing the eligible HSG-I (NFG) officers who are also at Pay Level 8. AIASC argues that this practice undermines the operational expertise and contributions of the HSG-I (NFG) cadre, leading to dissatisfaction among these officers.
Key Points Highlighted by AIASC:
- Equal Pay Level: HSG-I (NFG) officers, at Pay Level 8, are equally positioned to manage Senior Postmaster roles.
- Operational Expertise: These officers possess significant operational experience and skill sets that align with the responsibilities of Senior Postmaster positions.
- Recognition of Contributions: The current staffing practice neglects the contributions of the HSG-I (NFG) cadre, leaving them feeling undervalued.
Proposed Solution:
The association has strongly advocated for the inclusion of HSG-I (NFG) officers in Senior Postmaster (Group "B") roles. According to AIASC, this change will not only ensure efficient postal operations but also acknowledge and reward the capabilities and dedication of the HSG-I (NFG) cadre.
Appeal to Authorities:
In the letter, Narinder Pal, General Secretary of AIASC, emphasized the urgent need for a review of the current staffing policy. The association believes this reform will foster a more equitable system that appreciates the skills and expertise of all eligible officers.
Conclusion:
AIASC has called upon the Department of Posts to reconsider the present staffing norms and align the appointment process with the cadre's capabilities and pay parity. This step, they argue, will enhance organizational efficiency and morale within the postal service.
