UIDAI Suspends Certificate for Mantra Softech Device Model MFS110

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), through its Authentication and Verification Division, has issued a notice to all Authentication User Agencies (AUAs) and e-Know Your Customer User Agencies (KUAs) involved in Aadhaar authentication transactions. The notice announces the suspension of the certificate issued to M/s Mantra Softech (India) Pvt. Ltd. for its device model MFS110 until further orders.

Memo No.: 13021/1/2021-AUTH-I HQ
Dated: September 2024

Reason for Suspension

In its efforts to uphold the highest standards of security and efficiency within the Aadhaar authentication ecosystem, UIDAI has taken several measures to safeguard transactions and ensure end-to-end traceability. Among these measures was the launch of L1 fingerprint registered devices to enhance security during authentication processes.

However, critical security vulnerabilities were recently reported in the MFS110 device model manufactured by M/s Mantra Softech (India) Pvt. Ltd. To protect the integrity of the Aadhaar ecosystem and mitigate potential misuse, UIDAI has decided to suspend the certificate associated with this device model.

The suspended certificate details are as follows:

  • Certificate Number: UIDAVBDCS/AUTH/2020/L1-FPS-D/4
  • Issue Date: October 3, 2022

Implications of the Suspension

The suspension of the certificate effectively halts the usage of the MFS110 device model for Aadhaar authentication transactions. All AUAs and KUAs using this device are required to comply with the suspension and discontinue its use until further notice from UIDAI.

UIDAI's Commitment to Security

This decision underscores UIDAI's commitment to maintaining a secure and reliable Aadhaar ecosystem. By addressing vulnerabilities proactively, UIDAI ensures the protection of authentication processes and safeguards users’ data and credentials.

Official Statement

The notice was issued with the approval of the competent authority at UIDAI. For further queries, AUAs and KUAs can reach out to the director of the Authentication and Verification Division using the following contact details:

Stakeholders are advised to stay updated on this matter and await further instructions from UIDAI regarding the use of the MFS110 device model.
