The Department of Posts, through this communication, addresses a clarification request received via Rajasthan Circle’s letter No. Rectt/2-5/2024 dated November 12, 2024, concerning the eligibility of Postal Assistants (Savings Bank Control Organisation) [PA (SBCO)] who have been merged into the Postal Assistant (Post Office) [PA (PO)] cadre.
Details of the Decision
Following the merger of PA (SBCO) with PA (PO), the erstwhile PA (SBCO) employees are now considered part of the PA (PO) cadre.
The eligibility for appearing in the PO & RMS Accountants Examination, a qualifying examination, has been reviewed.
It has been decided that:
- Services rendered as PA (SBCO) will be counted towards eligibility for the PO & RMS Accountants Examination.
- Combined service in both PA (SBCO) and PA (PO) cadres will also be considered for determining eligibility, as applicable.
Therefore, PA (SBCO) employees who meet the criteria through their previous or combined service in the merged cadre may participate in the PO & RMS Accountants Examination, 2024.
