Download Clarification on EWS Reservation for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant Posts via CGLE 2022 in PDF.
The Department of Posts (DoP) has provided clarification regarding the reservation for candidates belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category for the recruitment of Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant posts based on the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2022.
In response to a query raised by Sh. Vangara Prasad, Assistant Director General (SPN), regarding the validity of EWS certificates for candidates, the clarification refers to the instructions provided in the dossier forwarding letter issued by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
Key Points of the Clarification:
- Validation of EWS Certificate:The EWS certificate submitted by candidates must comply with the provisions outlined in Para 2.1(ix) of the dossier forwarding letter. According to this clause:
- Candidates must possess an Income & Asset Certificate that is valid for the financial year 2022-2023.
- This certificate must have been issued based on the income for the financial year 2021-2022 and must align with the guidelines outlined in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoP&T) Office Memorandum No. 36039/1/2019-Estt(Res.), dated 31.01.2019.
- Certificate Issued After the Crucial Date:It has been clarified that an EWS certificate issued after the crucial date mentioned in the examination notice is also acceptable. However, the candidate must ensure that the certificate pertains to the relevant financial year as required by the recruitment guidelines.
This clarification ensures a standardized approach to verifying EWS certificates during the recruitment process and provides candidates with flexibility, as long as the financial year criteria are met.
Official Communication
The clarification was issued by Sanjay Kashyap, Under Secretary (C-1), SSC (HQ), in response to correspondence from the Department of Posts. The clarification aims to address concerns about the validity of EWS certificates and ensure compliance with existing DoP&T guidelines.
This communication highlights the importance of adherence to eligibility requirements, particularly for candidates claiming EWS reservation benefits.
