The Department of Posts, India, Mysuru Division, has issued a crucial notification regarding the upcoming Competitive Examination for recruitment to the cadre of Postman, Mail Guard, and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) from eligible Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) for the vacancy year 2024.
Overview of the Examination:
As per Directorate letter No. A-34012/03/2024-DE dated 10.07.2024, the examination is scheduled to be held on 25.08.2024 (Sunday). This examination aims to fill vacancies earmarked for GDS and unfilled vacancies through Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for Postman/Mail Guard.
Details of Vacancies:
- Postman and Mail Guard:
- The number of vacancies for the year 2024 available to GDS will be notified separately for each Recruiting Division/Unit.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS):
- Vacancies for MTS under Administrative Units and each Recruiting Division/Unit will also be notified separately.
Eligibility Criteria:
A. Postman and Mail Guard:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10th standard from a recognized Board, possess computer knowledge, knowledge of the local language of the concerned Postal Circle/Division, and hold a valid license to drive a two-wheeler or light motor vehicle.
- Age: Maximum 50 years as on 01.01.2024, with relaxations as per Government of India norms.
- Service Eligibility: Four years of regular engagement as Gramin Dak Sevaks as of 01.01.2024.
B. Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS):
- Educational Qualification: No upper age limit or specific educational qualification required.
- Service Eligibility: Two years of regular engagement as Gramin Dak Sevaks as of 01.01.2024.
Application and Examination Details:
- Interested candidates must submit their applications in the prescribed format (Annexure-I) by 06.08.2024 to their respective Divisions/Units.
- Applicants must indicate their option for post and order of preference for Divisions/Units as per the instructions (Annexure-II).
- The examination will include Paper-I (local language test for Postman/Mail Guard), Paper-II (general knowledge), Paper-III (English for MTS), and Paper-IV (Data Entry Skill Test for Postman/Mail Guard).
- Examination centers include Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli.

- Last date for receipt of applications at Divisional Office/Controlling Unit: 06.08.2024
- Last date for receipt of applications at Regional Office: 12.08.2024
- Issue of Admit cards: 19.08.2024
- Date of Examination: 25.08.2024
