Important Notice: Closure of RD Claims Before Maturity Period

Dear SPMs,

It has come to our attention that there have been instances of RD (Recurring Deposit) claim closures before the maturity period, specifically in cases where the maturity period is below 5 years. In light of this, it's imperative to adhere to certain protocols to ensure smooth and accurate transactions for our customers.

Procedure for RD Claim Closure:

Mode of Closure: Effective immediately, RD claim closures before the maturity period (i.e., below 5 years) should be processed only through two specific modes:

Cheque Mode: Closure transactions should be processed via cheque mode.

ECS to Other Banks: Alternatively, Electronic Clearing Service (ECS) can be utilized to transfer the funds to other banks.

Reasoning: This directive is crucial to prevent unintended consequences such as CIF merger or POSB credit, which may result in the application of the SB interest rate (4%) similar to regular PMC accounts. Such actions can lead to a shortfall in payment to the claimant, which is detrimental to both the customer and the organization.

Supervisor's Note:

It is essential for all SPMs to diligently follow these instructions to avoid any discrepancies or inconveniences for our customers. As supervisors, your oversight and adherence to these protocols are paramount in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations.

Conclusion:

In summary, the closure of RD claims before the maturity period demands meticulous attention to detail and adherence to prescribed procedures. By strictly implementing cheque mode or ECS transactions, we can ensure that our customers receive their rightful dues without any undue complications or discrepancies.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to upholding the standards of excellence in our services.

Sincerely,

Supervisor SBCO
