In a move to align with the objectives outlined in the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Government of India has introduced modifications to the reimbursement guidelines for Children Education Allowance (CEA) and Hostel Subsidy. The Office Memorandum (OM) No. A-27012/01/2023-Pers. Policy(Allowance) dated 14th March 2024, issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training, outlines these significant changes aimed at supporting the education of government employees' children.
The key modifications are summarized as follows:
Additionally, CEA and Hostel Subsidy will be granted for the initial two years of a diploma/certificate course from Polytechnic/ITI/Engineering College, provided the child pursues the course after passing the tenth standard. This adjustment recognizes the importance of vocational education and encourages the pursuit of skill development courses.
In conclusion, the government's proactive approach towards enhancing educational opportunities for the children of its employees reflects its dedication to fostering a knowledgeable and empowered citizenry. These modifications signal a progressive step towards realizing the vision of a modern and inclusive education system as envisaged in the NEP 2020.
