The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, F. No.Z.16025/12/2024/CGHS-III has reiterated its commitment to the well-being of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) pensioner beneficiaries aged 75 years and above. In a recent Office Memorandum dated 18.03.2024, the Directorate General of CGHS underscores the entitlement of these beneficiaries to an Annual Health Check-up at hospitals empanelled under CGHS.

Despite previous directives issued in this regard, concerns have arisen due to reported instances of non-issuance of permission for the Annual Health Check-ups by CGHS Wellness Centres. To address these concerns, all incharge of CGHS Wellness Centres nationwide are hereby reminded to strictly adhere to the instructions outlined in the aforementioned orders.

This directive aims to ensure that eligible CGHS beneficiaries receive the necessary permissions for their Annual Health Check-ups without hindrance. By doing so, it upholds the principle of prioritizing preventive healthcare for elderly pensioners, thus contributing to their overall well-being.

The Ministry emphasizes the importance of compliance with these guidelines, which have been issued with the approval of the competent authority. Additionally, all additional directors of CGHS cities are urged to oversee and ensure strict adherence to the Office Memorandum dated 19.08.2019, further reinforcing the commitment to fulfilling the healthcare needs of CGHS pensioner beneficiaries.

This communication is also extended to concerned Pensioner Associations, thereby fostering transparency and keeping stakeholders informed of the measures taken to address their concerns.

Dr. Utpal Kumar Ratha

Additional Director General, CGHS (HQ)
