PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana - Solar Rooftop Scheme Workflow and Implementation

Introduction:

The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, also known as the Solar Rooftop Scheme, is an initiative aimed at providing free electricity to households across India through solar power. This scheme offers subsidies for the installation of rooftop solar panels, enabling households to generate their electricity and reduce their reliance on the traditional power grid. The following article outlines the workflow and implementation process of this scheme, including key considerations during enumeration.

Overview of the Scheme:

The Solar Rooftop Scheme aims to illuminate 1 Crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity on a monthly basis. The scheme offers subsidies for residential households based on the capacity of the rooftop solar plant installed. The subsidy structure includes Rs. 30,000/- per kW up to 2 kW and Rs. 18,000/- per kW for additional capacity up to 3 kW. The total subsidy for systems larger than 3 kW is capped at Rs. 78,000.

Suitable Rooftop Solar Plant Capacity:

The suitable rooftop solar plant capacity is determined based on the average monthly electricity consumption of the household. For households consuming 0-150 units, a 1-2 kW rooftop solar plant is recommended with subsidy support ranging from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 60,000. Similarly, for households consuming 150-300 units, a 2-3 kW rooftop solar plant is recommended with subsidy support ranging from Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 78,000. For households consuming more than 300 units, a rooftop solar plant above 3 kW is recommended with a subsidy of Rs. 78,000.

Application Interface:

The application interface provides a user-friendly platform for households to apply for the scheme. Users are required to enter their mobile number and captcha to log in. Once logged in, they can initiate the enumeration process by clicking on the "Start Survey" button.

Key Considerations during Enumeration:

Several key considerations must be adhered to during the enumeration process:

Data from high-rise buildings should not be filled and compiled solely to achieve numbers.

Data of non-willing consumers should not be recorded.

No data should be recorded or compiled without the consent of the consumer.

Data of houses with asbestos sheet-based roofs or unstable/kuchcha roofs should not be recorded.

Conclusion:

The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana - Solar Rooftop Scheme is a significant initiative towards promoting renewable energy adoption and providing electricity access to rural and urban households. By following the outlined workflow and adhering to key considerations during enumeration, the scheme can effectively reach its target beneficiaries and contribute to sustainable development across India.
