I would like to appraise the series of happening in the scenario. The series of agitations went on since before November 2022 by the National Union of Grameen Dak Sewaks and All India Grameen Dak Sevaks Unions. On 24-11-2022, hunger fast was conducted at Delhi in that connection a meeting was conducted assuring an amicable solution for the legitimate demands of the Grameen Dak Sewaks. But many of the legitimate demands have not come to a conclusion even after a year from November 2022 to December 2023. As a part of continuation program Strike notice was served for indefinite Strike from 12-12-2023. Meeting was conducted on 11-12-2023 with the representatives under the chairmanship of Honourable Director General Postal Services. Minutes were also issued to the extent.
In fact many of the demands were the Recommendations of the Kamalesh Chandra Committee, which was constituted by the Government itself for review of the Pay and allowances of GDS Officials, which were not implemented till time.
After a series of dialogue and correspondence between the unions and authorities, as the legitimate demands of the Grameen Dak Sevaks have not come to a conclusion with formative orders the GDS Unions were tempted to go on strike. Even after withdrawing the Minutes dated 11-12-2023 we are expective that Department will come up with formative minutes to solve the issue but the things went in contra, As per the instructions from the Directorate so as to decrease the strike percentage many Circles have issued notices to the GDS officials with less than 3 years of Service under GDS Conduct and Engagement Rules.
