INDIA POST e-PATRIKA (ePaper) Second Edition 2023 has been released by the Department of Post (DOP) in the month of August 2023.

This is an initiative of Department of Posts (DOP), Ministry of Communications to highlight the important achievements and the best practices adopted by the Department.

This Patrika is published on quarterly basis and is available on India Post Website and Social Media Handles of the Department.

This is the Second Edition of e-PATRIKA which covers main initiatives / events / achievements of Department of Posts from April 2023 to June 2023.


MAHILA SAMMAN SAVINGS CERTIFICATE (MSSC)

Towards women empowerment

Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs, Smt. Smriti Irani opened a Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSSC) account by visiting Sansad Marg Head Post Office.

The two-year tenure scheme offers an attractive interest rate of 7.5 per cent compounded quarterly and is valid upto 31st March, 2025.


A STEP TOWARDS FINANCIAL LITERACY

Felicitation of Department of Posts’ Karmayogis

A Consultative Workshop – ‘iGOT Karmashala’ was organized by Karmayogi Bharat on 2nd May, 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan with senior officials of all the Ministries and Departments, iGOT Nodal Officers, content partners, and representatives of training institutes.


Top fifty (50) learners were felicitated for their enhanced engagement on iGOT Karmayogi platform.


Following top four (4) learners of Department of Posts were felicitated during the workshop:

a. Ms. Anjali Verma - IPoS Probationer

b. Sh. Pankaj Kumar Meena – IPoS Probationer

c. Shri Satyamraju Pakalapati - Accounts Officer, IP&TAFS Group B,

Visakhapatnam, Regional Office, Andhra Pradesh

d. Shri Chandraprakash Meena – Assistant Superintendent of Posts, Bharatpur Division, Rajasthan


GLOBAL PRESENCE


Regional Office of UPU in Delhi the proposal to establish a Regional Office of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in New Delhi, India has been approved by the Union Cabinet to undertake UPU’s development cooperation and technical assistance activities in the region by entering into a MoU with UPU.

This will enable India to play an active role at multilateral organizations in postal sector. India has provided a Field Project Expert, staff and office to set-up UPU's regional office.



Projects on capacity building and trainings, improving efficiency and quality of postal services, enhancement of Postal technology, e-commerce and trade promotion etc. will be prepared and implemented for the region by Department of Posts in coordination with UPU.


This initiative would help expand India's diplomatic footprint and strengthen relations with other countries, especially in Asia-Pacific region and will enhance India’s presence at the global Postal forums.


INTERNATIONAL TRACKED PACKET SERVICE

India Post & Canada Post have signed a bilateral Tracked Packet agreement on 7th June, 2023 to start International Tracked Packet (ITP) Service. The agreement is an important step towards promoting cross-border e-Commerce between the two countries. The service will provide competitive shipping solution for packets upto 2.0 kg with tracking facility and fulfill a major demand of exporters. With this, India now has ITP service with 39 partner countries and is in line with India's focus on increasing e-Commerce exports.

- Leveraging Postal Network to promote International Year of Millets 2023 (IYoM 2023)

* Special Cover released during AMRITPEX-2023 to mark International Year of Millets 2023

 Millets incorporated as part of canteen menu

* Millet Food Festivals organized by Postal Circles

* Millet vending machine installed at Dak Bhawan

*  Several Road Shows were organized by Postal Circles to promote IYM 2023



Tie-up of India Post with Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT)/ Tripta Technologies (Bharat EMart)


MoU signed with Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in the presence of Hon’ble MoSC on 9th May, 2023.


As per the MoU, consignments booked on the Bharat EMart, will be picked up by India Post from the premises of the Sellers. Consignments will be inducted into the India Post system for delivery across the country under Speed Post/Business Parcel service.


A Pilot for booking of the consignments from Delhi/Haryana is expected to start shortly.


MoU WITH TRIFED

Vocal for local India Post signed MoU with Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) on 6th June, 2023 to ensure safe and secure transmission of tribal products from the NorthEastern Region. India Post will facilitate pick-up, collection and booking of consignments for delivery across the world.



ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY INITIATIVES Mission Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE)


*  Reduction of Carbon footprint of Postal systems; simplification of procedures, implementation of NEFT, RTGS and other online modes of payment has led to significant savings in stationary

*  Solar Power - 1,29,943 Rural Post Offices have been supplied with solar powered hand-held device

 Solar Panels installed in various Post offices

 Tree Plantation drive organized on 22nd May, 2023 across the country

 Use of modern technology to reduce power consumption; LED lights and sensors

 230 Mail vans operate on CNG

 705 Rain Water Harvesting structures have been constructed in Postal Circles across the country


The offices under Department of Posts organized several awareness events from 15th May, 2023 to mainstream the LiFE Mission through vast network of post Offices. 157 awareness and 406 action events were organized by different field offices of the Department. More than 12000 employees/officers participated in these events and more than 10000 employees/officers took LiFE pledge.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA 2023

On International Day of Yoga, 2023, Senior officers of the department, along with employees of Delhi Postal Circle, listened to the inspiring Video Message of Hon'ble PM and performed Common Yoga Protocol. All Administrative / Field offices actively participated in this event.

CAPACITY BUILDING

Department of Posts has launched 2nd phase of Dak Karmayogi Training Programme and 25 new online Training Courses under Mission Karmayogi initiative in the presence of Hon'ble Minister of State for Communications, Shri Devusinh Chauhan. He appreciated the pivotal role of Department of Posts in Mission Karmayogi Project and its commitment for professional growth and customer satisfaction.


The first National Training Conclave 2023 was organized by the Capacity Building Commission on 11.06.2023. Department of Posts actively took part in implementation of Mission Karmayogi and showcased the achievements of DoP during Panel Discussion on "Transformation to a Phygital World of Capacity Building".
