Subject: Clarification on change of guardianship in SSY Accounts – Reg.
Reference: D.O. Lr. No. FS-POSB002(07)/1/2022 dated 13.12.2022.
With reference to the above cited, it is informed that the clarification sought for from DEA, MoF in respect of change of guardianship on the following scenarios is awaited:
- Change of guardianship from mother to father and vice versa for the purpose of income tax rebate
- Change of guardianship in respect of divorced parents from mother to father and vice versa
- Change in guardianship by other parents on legal adoption of girl child
2. With respect to change of guardianship from grandparents to parents, it is informed that the accounts opened under the guardianship of person other than the guardian as defined in Govt. Savings Promotion Act 1873 are in contravention of rules. Circle may taken further action accordingly.
