Subject: Instructions for exchange of duty in RMS wing: Rule 116 of Postal Manual Vol.VI reg.


Madam/Sir,


I am directed to say that instructions regarding exchange of duty in AMS Wing - Rule 116 of Postal Manual Vol VII- have been reviewed and it has been decided by the Competent

Authority to extend the provisions of Rule 116 of Postal Manual Vol VII to all Group 'C' officials of RMS Wing including MTS in exceptional circumstances.


2. The exchange of duty may be permitted between the same category of stalf of RMS Wing. Under no circumstances, exchange of duty will be permitted across different categories of staff illustration:

(i) Mutual exchange of duties may be permitted between two MTS or two Mail Guard, etc. but not between one MTS and one Mail Guard.

(i) MTS or Mail Guard will not be permitted to perform the work of Sorting Assistants under these Rules.


3. This practice of exchange of duty should not be exercised in routine manner. The concerned authority will have discretion to accept or reject any such request of exchange of duty of officials of AMS Wing.


4. All other terms & conditions of Rule 116 of Postal Manual Vol VII remain unchanged.
